How Can I Break the Silence (Discovery Series Booklet)
We expect them to come to us, when we should be going to them.
Why is it so hard to say those first few words about the most important Person in my life? Why do I hesitate to pass along the best news I have ever heard? Is there anything that will help me to do the very thing I want so much to do—to tell others that I have found a way of surviving death, living forever, being forgiven of my sins, and exploring the goodness of God forever? With a desire to answer such troubling questions, Herb Vander Lugt has written this booklet. It reflects the wisdom of a man who understands the tension between the message that must be told and the silence that must first be broken.
Herb VanderLugt (1920-2006) grew up in a large family during the Depression. He was married to his wife Virginia for 65 years. He enlisted in the US Army during WWII, serving in the Medic Corp in England. Although he was encouraged by his Army supervising doctors to become a physician, he felt a calling to the ministry. He graduated from Moody Bible Institute and Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary. He pastored at First Baptist Church in Carson City, First Baptist Church in Zeeland, Spring Lake Baptist, Trinity Baptist in Grand Rapids, Alaska Baptist Church, Church of the Open Door in Wyoming, and was presently Pastor Emeritus at Sparta Baptist Church. Pastor VanderLugt was often called upon to speak and fulfill interim pastorates. In 1967 he began working at Radio Bible Class where he became the senior research editor, a staff writer, and regular contributor to "Our Daily Bread." He also authored many booklets and books.
