How Can We Trust a Bible That Tolerated Slavery? (Discovery Series)
Genesis portrays slaves as being treated more like family members than as property.
Behind race relations in America lies an ugly historical fact. Some people still believe the Bible justifies slavery. They cite passages like, "Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear" (Eph. 6:5). They also point out that church leaders during the middle 1800s used the Bible to defend slavery. How can we trust a book that was used to justify the terrible evil of buying, breeding, and selling humans like animals? Herb Vander Lugt hope to answer to these questions will become clear as we review what the Bible really says about slavery.
