Many wives blame themselves for their husbands' anger or violence.  Women often feel alone, without hope, and without options.  Often they are confused about what is really happening not only to them but inside them as well.  Because their husbands seem to have everyone else intimidated or fooled with their persuasive charm, these women wonder at times if they are losing their minds.  Coming to terms with what has been happening may be frightening.  The road ahead will not be easy. But there is hope.  There is a dawn beyond the darkness.  You don't need to waste the pain of your abuse on further denial and passive tolerance of your husband's illegal and ungodly behaviour.  There is help for those who learn to respond in a Christlike and biblical way when violence comes home.

Tim Jackson is married to his college sweetheart, Cole. They have 3 adult children. Tim has written Discovery Series booklets on a variety of counseling issues and hosted webinars for Our Daily Bread Ministries. He's also the founder and president of Still Waters Counseling & Equipping Ministries, PC, a local counseling practice serving individuals, couples and families. When not in the office, you will probably find him up a tree with a bow, in a duck blind or fly fishing on one of Michigan's many rivers.

 Jeff Olson is a licensed professional counselor in the State of Michigan and has worked for Our Daily Bread Ministries as a counselor and a writer since 1992. He has authored a number of Discovery Series booklets (discoveryseries.org) on such topics as addictions, grief, depression, and marital abuse. He also maintains a part-time private counseling practice in the West Michigan area. Jeff and his wife, Diane, have been married since 1986 and have raised two lovely daughters. He is an avid outdoorsman.
